Too much water in the body dilutes the blood causes low levels of electrolytes like sodium ions, a condition called hyponatremia. This can cause mild and serious complications as well. One serious effect is when bloodstream becomes too dilute (hypotonic) such that cells start taking in much water as well which causes swelling.
Explanation:
The body has mechanisms to remove excess water from the system which relies much on kidneys. However, when excess water becomes more than the kidney can remove in any given time, the rest will remain in the bloodstream, which causes many physiological effects. Among the symptoms of too much water in the body includes headache, nausea and change in mental state. When this too much water in the bloodstream causes low levels of sodium in the blood which result to seizure, coma, muscle weakness and unconsciousness.
