b. Engineering controls
Explanation
Business employ ergonomic controls that are designed to protect the workers while improving their health. According to OSHA (2016), these controls are also known as the engineering controls, administrative controls, or work practice controls. Engineering controls include the workstation layout, materials handling tools and lifts which are designed to eliminate most hazards in the workplace. According to OSHA, engineering controls is the most effective method of promoting worker safety (OSHA, P.294). Other methods are administrative controls include scheduling the rotation of workers between job tasks or implementing regular rest breaks. Work practice controls include performing proper lifting techniques, use of personal protective equipment's among others.
