Answer

To reduce osteoporosis, the patient should exercise regularly. Though she should avoid exercises that involve jerking or twisting of the spine, exercises like walking can help increase bone density and reduce osteoporosis. She should consume more calcium and vitamin D. Bone formation depends much on calcium, which is controlled by vitamin D levels in the blood. By consuming foods with high calcium levels, and exposing herself to low UV radiation from the sun, she can help increase the concentration of these two nutrients and in turn reduce osteoporosis. She should limit smoking and alcohol consumption.

Explanation

Osteoporosis is a condition that causes the bones to be weak and brittle mostly at the spine, wrist or hip. Bones are usually broken down and replaced constantly, but when the rate of replacing bones is lower than the rate at which bones are broken down, osteoporosis occurs.
